Public Appeciation for Steve Wooster and the CBC

Post by OnaginOffagin »

Once again, I experienced a quality weekend at the Conard Bernhardt Championships at Pe Ell, Washington. The opportunity to shoot side by side and associate with Champions like Cathy Winstead-Severin, Dennis Martinen, David Bonner, Dustin Flint, Eric Boos, Erich Mietenkorte, and the Marsh wrecking crew from up in "O Canada" way is rare and priceless. This has to be one of the best run matches in the country.... All Thanks to Steve Wooster and his crew. You are appreciated.

I had dinner with that kid, and to my shame I've forgotten his name.... The first day, he scored a 26! Nice guy, too.

I couldn’t make it this year but I absolutely agree, Steve and that shoot are top notch.

For anyone in the NW, in my mind there are three shoots written in ink on the calendar every year. Steve’s Match, the Bull River May shoot in Cranbrook (shameless plug but 70+ participants every year can’t be wrong) and Missoula’s Ironman the first weekend in June. All GREAT shoots.

I didn't catch his name but he was shooting just to the left of me on the same relay.

This was my first time flying to a really big match. Steve and crew did a great job keeping things running smoothly and handed out some incredible door prizes!

The only downside was we had a bunch of wind Saturday that would come along and blow down most of the Rams and some of the Turkeys, causing a mid-bank reset. But that's not anyone's fault, it was just a freak minor annoyance.

I didn't shoot particularly well but I had fun and I'll be putting it on the calendar for next year.

It was a fantastic match - the premier smallbore match in the country. Hopefully soon we will have a few more matches in North America that draw 100 entries and all of the top shooters.

Thank you Steve and all of the Pe Ell Sportmen's Club crew that make this match great!

2019 Score_Sheet_CBC revised.xls
We try to make it for the shooters. Over the last 20 years or so we have made changes to get the match running smooth and fast. If we find something wrong we fix it. We have 5 banks of double stacked animals, 4 target setters and 5 relays, started and 9am and was having lunch at noon. I think that is pretty darn good. The only way these matches survive is to have people supporting them. With all the expense and cost to travel it is hard. Some times you have to pick and choose where you can go. So that's why we try our best. Just like the Nationals, shooters need to try to make them. Just waiting for them to return back to your range isn't working. But I understand the cost thing. I personally probably won't make the nationals. With Cranbrook match and Ironman match I might be a little short on cash. But haven't ruled it out, just need to figure out my money after retiring on this Thursday. Hope download worked?

This is the first year I have missed the CB. I think it is a much better shoot than the nationals in spite of the rain and cold.

I had to miss this year too Jerry. Oh well, maybe next year! Steve runs a great show, and you can't beat the South Bend Oysters..
