Lever Action Silhouette National Championship Update
I am not in Raton at nationals But I did score come pictures of the scoreboard for today's Smallbore Cowboy Rifle national championship.
The undisputed best lever-rifle silhouette shooter in the world John Mullins took a big win today. Several great shooters are still within striking distance. Who will step up tomorrow with a great performance and put the pressure on John???

Another update. Pistol cartridge today. John Mullins with another dominant championship win. It's basically all over in Raton. Great shooting as always John.

“Believe” it was 148. One large family couldn’t make it, one family had car issues in route and there were some other issues that some had to deal with. Good bunch of people this year and the matches ran VERY well.
Huge thank you to Jeanne and her entire staff. Weather was about as good as you could have asked for sans the shoot off at the end of Monday but it sure made it interesting!
We’ll be back!

Results from the final match of the John Mullins show.
From what I can tell, final aggregate results were:
John Mullins - 229/240
Emmett Dibble - 203/240
Jim Luke - 202/240

Re: Lever Action Silhouette National Championship Update
Jim Luke was 3rd with a 202. John improved his overall aggregate record by 2 animals, from 227 to 229 out of 240 . It was very competitive at the end of pistol cartridge with six or seven competitors within 2 points of each other for second. Rifle caliber separated the field a bit though. All in all, the conditions were truly outstanding for the match, perhaps the best I've ever seen at Raton, with the only issue being Monday afternoon during the shootoffs, when we had a pretty severe storm pass through. I thought we were going to have a shootoff with Jim Luke for the second match in rifle caliber as he and John were tied going into the final animal, pigs. They were shooting the same animal, on the third relay and then John had a rifle malfunction causing him to take a five shot alibi on the last bank of animals. Jim, in the meantime, had missed one pig. John went clean and thus won the match, making this his first clean sweep.

A trip to the nationals is definitely on my bucket list. 2020 just might be the year I make it.
Congrats to all!
When I go, I won't pretend to be in the running for a top spot. I simply love lever action silhouette.

Doesn't matter what class you shoot. Prepare and shoot your best, you might be surprised with the results. It is BEAUTIFUL up there and worth the trip if you can stand the car ride or plane/car ride. Simply gorgeous. Well run matches, nice people, fantastic facilities... I mean it's not the beach in your swim trunks but you also can't shoot silhouette on the beach....
