25-35 1894 win barrel?
I'm looking for a needle in a haystack. Anyone have a spare 26" octagon barrel for a 25-35 1894 Winchester?

If you don't have any luck locating an old take off barrel, you can always pay up and get a new one made by Winchesterbarrels.com.
I believe that they have all the correct stamps for the barrel as well.

Re: 25-35 1894 win barrel?
I sent them an email inquiring about Marlin 39A barrels.... Yet to hear back and not sure if I would want to chance the illegal replacement barrel on my little silhouette rifle even though I can't see it as "really" cheating....

GTS, thanks for the tip with winchesterbarrels.com. I'm not planning on turning this 25-35 into a silhouette gun. It's a restoration project and the original barrel is bent.

Sorry CamP Definitely not my intention to imply anything of that nature. My apologies! I do have several old rifles that a new barrel would sure be a welcome addition.

No problem, Merlin.
I always thought the no aftermarket barrel rule was silly. Nobody is going to suddenly start shooting 40's because they spent a load on a new barrel. One of our local shooters advice is buy 10 rifles and keep the one that shoots. If the rebarrel rule is designed to keep costs down, it doesn't make sense if you have to buy multiple rifles to find a shooter.

CamP, I don't know how much the barrel is bent, but I had a 26" 25-20 barrel that was slightly bent.
I sent it to Bob Lawson, Cabool, Mo. and he straightened it, no problem. Bob is a long time gunsmith and is very talented.
His number is 417-962-0439

Re: 25-35 1894 win barrel?
Thanks John. It was bent about 3/16". I found a youtube video with an old gunsmith explaining his method of barrel straightening. He removed the barrel, found the high spot in the bend, then wacked it hard across a large log. Within 5 minutes he had a straight barrel.
I figured I had nothing to lose so I tried his technique, and it worked great.

Back about 40 years ago I attended Lassen College Gunsminthing School for a couple of years, we were taught this method of straightening shotgun barrels and I used it to good advantage on a .22 barrel. Dont laugh, it works.CamP wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:36 amThanks John. It was bent about 3/16". I found a youtube video with an old gunsmith explaining his method of barrel straightening. I have a rifle that shoots to the left. Which side of the log should a smack it on?

These images are from the Springfield armory museum. Somehow a tree stump just doesn't sound quite right...
