I don’t know specifically for silhouette but when I used to run a jr club I experimented some and found that a flat steel plate square on stopped the pellets dead and they pretty much just dropped straight down. This is with 10 meter guns so 600fps or so max. Maybe the higher power guns would splatter the pellets more like a 22lr?

Simple steel backer seems to work just fine and it doesn't have to be real thick either (assuming .177 running subsonic).

The pellets just flatten out and either drop right there or maybe bounce out a foot or two at most.
