Marlin 57 and 57M Carrier Bolt difference
Does any one know if the bolts are interchangeable or not?
If not, how can you tell the difference between them?
I've been working on them a bunch, but I have a couple extra bolts and trying to figure this out.
They are listed with different part numbers, but they look the same to me.
I've been using my 57M for this sport off and on since year 2000.
Thanks, Dennis

The rim sizes of 22LR and 22WMR are different.
The 22LR case is the same size as the barrel groove diameter. Since the case and bullet are the same diameter the base of the bullet is a smaller diameter in order to be seated into the case.
The 22WMR is like the centerfire ammunition that we are all used too. The case is large enough in diameter to accept the groove Diameter bullet. Since the case diameter is larger the rim diameter is larger.
There may be other differences due to the higher pressure of the 22WMR. I however do not have the slightest idea.

David, you are right.
It is a slightly larger bolt face. hard to check without removing the extractors.
also, I notice a difference in the extractor pins, see the photo, the one on the left is most likely a 22 magnum and the right is definitely a 22lr.
Thanks for helping me find the difference.
