120-Shot Nationals Course of Fire

Post by lijeboy »

Question for those who have been in the lever action silhouette game since the beginning: Why are National matches only 80 shots, rather than the 120-shot National course that is shot by all other disciplines? 120 shots is considered a nationals course.

It's always something.

This is just s guess...
Because the Lever Action Silhouette National Championship involves three rifles? 22LR, Pistol caliber and rifle caliber
Otherwise I am forced to admit that I do not know.

That is then 240 rounds, same amount of shots as shooting both rifles in smallbore or highpower

I would say time. If you switch to 2-60 round matches per gun could you still get it done if 4 days? The two days for long range would most likely not be an issue. Other two guns might be a problem doing 2-60's each day.

I go to a lever action silhouette match to shoot. I go to a multi day special/regional/national match to shoot more. I'm in, let's do it.

I will guess that it relates to the amount of competitors at the initial matches.
I believe it kind of relates to BPCR.If memory serves, there were so many competitors at the first match that they added days the following years to fit everyone in.
The same thing may have or did with Leveraction on the 200m range.
I didn’t shoot Leveraction then.
