Savage Precision Target Action based rifle

Post by Welldone »

Has anyone ever used a Savage PTA target actin for silhouette? I have my eye on one in 6MM Dasher.

I personally see nothing but advantage to a savage action based rifle. Fast lock time, easily change barrel’s without a gun smith and the ability to change just the bolt face if you decide on a cartridge with a different case head diameter. Even if you never desire to do those things you still have what is one of the fastest lock times of any factory rifle. Based on what I have read and assuming it’s correct (I’m not claiming I know for fact) you can do about every trick in the book to a Remington to speed up its lock time and not be faster than a factory Savage. If that’s true I would think it a plus. They do have a funky trigger mechanism but it doesn’t seem to prevent them from having good triggers.

Only downside is just single action triggers. If that isn't an issue they sure do shoot.
