My EMcD build (or the new mold is working!)-Done!!

Post by sobrbiker883 »

Well kids, I gotta share my excitement. Evelio was gracious enough to let me see my stock that just came in, and I thought I'd share.
He has a 1712 barreled action straight from Champ's Choice that will be going in it, then I will be one happy guy.
Although I'm still an A Class shooter I've decided to buy once and cry once (actually he's doing a twin in 7-08 for HP as well) and get what I'll end up obsessing on from the begining.
Mrs Sobrbiker gave me permission for an upgrade for Christmas, then I added the stock to the deal, and the 7-08, and once finished I'm gonna have to concentrate on my shooting as there's gonna be no equipment issues to blame!

Here's one of the first out of the new mold:
Image

Its gonna be a beautiful, borderline blinger. All the metal is going to be black.........I can't wait!!

1/27/02-Evelio sent me this great news!!!:

Steve, that is a thing of beauty! And having another just like it built for HP is really going to be nice! Might add some consistency to your game too, having the same stock fit for both rifles.

Does my envy for your new shooting irons bleed off your computer screen, cause it should... I'm still going to try my best to outshoot you with your old CZ though. :P

Nice stock.......word of advice for you guys building multiple rifles.....If you buy the same color/pattern stock for all of them it'll be much harder for the wife to keep up with how many you have.....Mrs. Kitty thought my backup smallbore rifle and my hi power rifle were one and the same until Unkmike helped her figure it out.......

Swapping and painting stocks will also keep the Mrs. disoriented, though I discovered this accidentally...

Kitty-you are directly in line with my thought process! I'm to much of a softie and ratted myself out on the HP build though.

John-It'll hurt to have you kick my ass with my old CZ, but seeing how you shot 42/60 the first time you tried it with that POS Banner scope, and I'm breaking 30 on a good day, I think you'll be a class or two ahead of me for a while-you're a natural!
I mailed the action to Evelio for the HP build, and then it dawned on me how retarded it would be to drop it in an old BDL stock so I told him just to go ahead and make twins........I clicked to the consistency angle immediately thereafter and felt justified (and even had a way to explain the necessity of both being stocked the same to the Mrs....).
Its a good and a bad thing that she has no interest in shooting.......I wish she'd like it because I'd love to have her get involved, but its nice that she can spot a new rifle about as well as I can spot a new pair of shoes.

Did I mention I can't wait to get my hands on my dream gun????

Steve, don't underestimate the positive effect having that new custom Annie is going to have on your game and your scores. A good stock fit and a tack-driving rifle HAVE to add some animals for you. You might remember that Tim went from shooting in the 20's to hitting in the low to mid 30's when he got his EMac custom. And he started shooting better the very first time he took it out! You're gonna love your new rifle! It might take a few matches to get used to it, but I suspect it'll take you up a class or two yourself by the end of the year.

Hey, don't talk too poorly about that scope. It worked out nicely on my end. When I replaced it on the CZ with a 4-16x50mm I decided to try it for pistol silhouette. I have it on a .22 hornet pistol barrel for the new T/C I got from Yoshi, and so far so good. Today I shot my third leg into AAA with that little beauty and got moved up. It's light, clear, repeats well. I love it.

Thanks, I've got my sights set on AAA sb hunter class in 2008, and am hoping your CZ will take me there. I feel you about the Mrs. not having an interest in our sport. You might have noticed you haven't seen mine out there at a match in a few months. She said she didn't like the pressure of competition. I think it brings out the best and makes it more fun to have the challenge of competition. But I really still look at the matches as opportunities to improve and shoot a new personal best for myself. How I place in the standings is not as improtant to me. But for some reason, she, like yours, wasn't into it either. Too bad, because she can get her elbow on her hip without any trouble at all! And she even looks comfortable doing it!

Congrats again on the new rifles. When can you expect the Annie to arrive? If you need a hunter class rifle to shoot while you wait for your Annie, you're welcome to go back to the old CZ until your custom arrives. Maybe I'll see you next Sunday at the sb match.

75/25% chance I'll be there Sunday, and the EMc 1712 will hopefully be in by the time you see me February. Evelio's starting the work tomorrow he said, so he's shooting for the end of the minth.
You can keep on keeping on with the CZ, I think I posted one A score with it. I'll just shoot my 64MSR in standard until the 1712 comes in. Then I need do decide if I'll be a sandbagging jerk and shoot the 1712 as STD until I'm shooting AA with it and jump A altogether from my B Hunter class

I knew I shoulda kept that scope for my 10/22, I just hope it stays repeating for you. Congrats on the AAA pistol today!
It was cold and windy enough at Rio yesterday that I won A with a 23/60....I don't recall what the match winning score was but it wasn't too high. You need to drive out and come slumming with us east siders sometime.

Steve,

Nice stock buddy. I cannot wait to see you shoot that amazing piece of iron. Like John said, I posted my first 30+ with the rifle the first time out. The fit, the balance and accuracy make for a confidence maker when you stand on the line. You will do the same, watch.

This year is going to be great. There will be three of evelio's rifles on the line.

Steve,

I did make it out there to RSSC with the 10/22 once. It was one of my first matches. I liked the cheap entry fee. I cost me 5 bucks as opposed to 13 at BA. That was last year on the weekend of the State Championships, so there were only some A class shooters and a few others in B like I was at the time. I posted a 25/60 and it was good enough for a match win. I got a few hard stares and haven't been back, not because of the stares, but it is just a long drive over hour and 20 from my house. I can make it to Ben Avery in 15 mins.

I did like the range though. It has some nice earthen berms built up on 3 sides that seemed to cut the majority of the prevailing wind a little, but it did seem to make the wind that made it onto the range swirl in upredictable ways.

I've been meaning to get out there for a pistol match, since they have the thinner sb targets that we don't have at BA. Maybe I can make it out there again for a Saturday match sometime. I've decided to retire my 10/22 and shoot that CZ you sold me in both classes. It's my most accurate .22 rifle now, so I'll be trying to shoot it as much as I can to get used to the different lighter feel it has. My heavy barrelled 10/22 seems to shoot to the same POI however I hold it, but the CZ is picky about a very light grip and pull into the shoulder. If I muscle it at all my POI changes.

If I were you, I think I'd do the same and retire the 64MSR to help pay for that high power. Then you could shoot the HP in both classes and the Evelio sb in both classes and you'd only shoot two rifles with the exact same stock fit. I think it'd be good for your game.

Uh-huh. Keep talking, Unk, I'll compare inventories with you any day! My herd stays pretty lean 'cause I keep bartering, although Evelio's artwork does seem to stick around. Actually, Significant Other does know what's in the locker even though the constant tinkering and bartering probably confuse her.

Come to think of it, most of my rifles are examples of E Mc's work... One is an Old Friend and the other is a transient high power that may or may not get a trip to Evelio's Play Land in a year or so. Kitty keeps tempting me to the high power side so I'll try that with a fairly stock .260 this season and, if that works out, plan a step up for next year. I've bothered Evelio (and everyone else, come to think of it... :? ) about this for several months now and am just now settling on a coherent plan.

BlauBear does this mean you've given up on the AR :-)

Not entirely, but one new area at a time! I Have Kitty (for better or worse...) to help ease me into high power silhouette so I'll tackle that one first although I would still like to get into CMP shooting. Using the AR in Silhouette is obviously impossible, so this is the direction.
