I shoot an 8 twist 3 groove Lilja. I shoot Sierra 120s for Chicken and Pigs and 142s for Turkeys and Rams.
As soon as I run out of 120s I am going to start using Sierra 123s.
The (OK, maybe just mine) 8 twist does just fine with all 6.5 bullet weights. It even shoots the 107s into nice little .75 MOA groups out to 300 yards.
I am coming up on rebarrel time and will be ordering another Lilja 3 groove. In fact I have yet to use another barrel brand for my past 6 or 7 barrels.

I've shot four different 8 twist 6.5's without any problems with the 107's and 108's. Seems at least possible that there are some heavy 6.5 bullet designs that would prefer 8 twist to 9. That said, Dave Imas has forgotten more about this game than I'll ever know.
And be careful with that "old timer" stuff, you insolent pup.
