There are matches most weekends within a two hour drive of a few million people in Michigan. Not a whole lot of competitors. I started with a pawn shop Marlin 25 in Hunter. Shot a case of ammo that summer getting Distingushed Expert in NRA Light Rifle and doing Silhouette. I think more folks are worried about looking bad at the line and many claim not enough time to practice so they don't really start at the game. A crosstown club has a fun shoot using the next size targets and has twenty people laughing and having fun. I don't know if this can move to shooting proper targets, but it is at least a start...
