I can't remember there ever being an Oregon State Championship. 1986 or 87 Idaho shot their State Championship in Vale Oregon. Dennis Martinen won. Rarely a match in Oregon let alone a state championship. Anyone else... did i miss something?

I think Mordecai is just fussin' fer a grudge match. Since he didn't show at Missoula he's got 'bout a hundred points to make up this time instead of the usual one or two.

OK, when IS the Oregon state match? I'm thinkin' Baker would be a good place to have it, mountains without the all the yuppies. I would miss the beer and barbequed oysters though. Course, it would be interesting to see if Jason could find southern barbeque there.

The only thing I can find is their monthly match... Guess I should call the director...

Match Dir: M. Dreske (503) 538-4610
Range: Sherwood, OR
Dates: Jun 28, Nov 22, Dec 27

Pistol & Cowboy Lever on Sep 6, Nov 1, Dec 6
Smallbore Cowboy on Jun 28, Nov 22, Dec 27 (same as smallbore above)

dwl, I can't possibly want to let you challenge the shoot-off records so early as I just tied it up this year! Let me revel a little! :)

OR/ID had some combined state matches in the early 80s. I don't think they ever had a state match in Vale after 85. They did have the nationals in OR in about 87. The match where Dennis set the chicken record was in the early 80s, around 83 I think.

Mordecai is modest, not only is he famous in Oregon for being the Steelchickens man, he is now the 2008 Oregon Hunter Rifle State Champion. Not AAA champ like in Florida, but State Champ! What's next, Montana??

We had a great time! The weather was perfect and the match chugged along. The Oregon folks were very generous and knew a lot of fellow shooters from around. They're looking forward to seeing more faces and with any luck, a few posts like this will get them some new shooters too.

In the 120-shot, 6-hour Cowboy Rifle Match, I was lucky enough to pull off 1st AAA with a 92/120. They had a Master post a 103/120 and the Match Winner put up an astounding 110/120. They also shoot for Bacon & Eggs for the top 8 shooters so if anyone's hungry, between us, we'll be swimming in breakfast for awhile!

Notice Mordecai didn't tell anyone until too late? Hmm, gaming the system to your advantage, eh? Bet you didn't want another one point match.

Congratulations on the win.

Is next years Oregon match the same week end? If you've got a reference of a phone number let us know so we might be able to plan ahead.

Oh, this wouldn't have been a one-point match. You could have walked away with it, although, I understand not only did I tank at the end, so did everyone else! I just got lucky during the shoot-off (I didn't realize the shoot-off was for Match Winner, I thought it was just for AAA - LOL)

dave, if they wanted travelers they would advertise the match. I didn't think I would have to explain that to you.
