Cleaning???

Post by thskeer »

New to Air Guns. I have a FWB 600 that has been shot about 1500 rounds since I got it (used) in October of last year. So...

How often do I clean it?
Other than using a pull through, what else do I need to use?
Solvent? Dry patch? Nylon brush? Brass Brush? Felt pellet?

Is there a settling in period after cleaning?

Thanks

I usually only clean when accuracy starts to drop off. I find this to be barrel dependant as well. I have yet to clean my AirArms S400 and have at least 15,000-20,000 shots through it over the past 3 years.

As for how I clean I use a dry patch worm on my airguns with shrouds that have baffles. For my Steyr LG1 SSP almost the same rifle as your FWB the manual says to clean the barrel occasionally (also when accuracy drops) with nothing more than a dry felt pellet, I'll usually put two in and blast them out. Thats it no oil or anything after. Just make sure you don't try to shoot a felt pellet out of a shrouded or baffled rifle setup as you run the risk of blasting the baffles and getting the felt pellet jammed up in the baffles.
