.260 Rem vs 6.5 Creedmore?

Hey silhouette13, I shot my first HP match in '77 at the Watkins club east of Denver using my old M70 .30-06 with full house 165gr. hunting loads and a 3-9x Weaver. I managed to hit 14 animals using the hold over technique. In the next three years I only attended about 8 matches due to new family, work demands, broke....etc. You know the bit. That rifle beat me up bad but I had lots of fun. Vest ?...I had no stinking vest. I finally down sized to a Remington 788 .308 in 1980. Whew...what a relief that was.

McAlice, I knew you were stuck in the 90's. We have the Chandler Center for the Arts in town. When an person performs at the Center, you can bet that their career has hit the skids. A few weeks ago Michael Bolton played here, I was going to ask you if you wanted tickets, but since you have no cell phone (it's almost 2011 for heaven sakes), how could I contact you?

Bob McAlice heading to the Colorado Rifle Club in his 92 pickup truck, with his 90's 7-08's, with a Douglas barrell attached (Douglas popular in 90's), your cassette tape deck blaring with one of the two tapes that you own (Bolton and Vanilla Ice), admit it Bob, you know all the words to Ice Ice Baby don't you.

I will get a little off track from the discussion at hand (BTW, I heard Bob migrated west in a 1972 Chevelle SS, jacked up with N50 wrinkle slicks in the back, etc,etc).

Anyway, it seems we may have another choice of brass for the .260 in the near future. Hint: the name of the producer of said brass starts with an "L". Of course, expect it to cost 50% more than the same producers .308 brass for some unexplained reason.

Mary, I think the only hope for McAlice is the next time he goes to one of those dynamite shoots, is to take the left over explosives and place it under Bob and then touch it off, in hopes that it will blow his ass into the present!

Jim T. thats good news, I would love it if Lapua started making some .260 brass. I would be willing to pay more for that quality. The remington brass has such washy reviews, and the nosler isn't that great either for what they want for it.

Winchester (brand) Winchester .243 Win brass is perfectly good brass. All you need to do is neck them up to .264 with a mandrel. I usually run them through my bushing FL 260 Rem sizer just to get the neck tension the same as my other brass.

P.S. Oh, by the way, there are some ranges where the 7-08's additional "throw weight" makes a difference on the rams. Despite all the "it's so '90s" jabs at Bob, the 7-08 is still a fine cartridge that is hard to go wrong with. It is just that a lot of us like the 6.5s. The 6.5s are fun to shoot, but can be a bit light on some of the rams. The weak point, if there is one, of the 7-08 is wind drift on the turkeys when compared to the 6.5.

After reading Rick's post about McAlice in the present or the future, I had a vision that quite frankly brought lunch and dinner to the back of my throat. I saw Bob in the present, he was at a match in Dickies that were hanging to his knees, red and white striped boxers that was allowing enough crack to show that would have embarrased any plumber, a beater t-shirt that had the words "7mm be it" on it, and he was tatted up. A red heart on his neck with what appeared to be a 7-08 case inside of it, and he was sleaved, silhouette animals on the left arm and fire commands on the right, the topper was a Block hat naturally facing backwards on his head. McAlice please stay in the 90's.
