Rex Ward Passed Away

Post by lone ringer »

I received an Email this morning with information that Rex Ward had passed away.
Besides being one great cowboy leaver action rifle silhouette competitor Rex was an extremely nice person.
I am proud of having known and competed with him in several Nationals and State Championships.
He will be missed by a lot of people that knew him.

below is the Email a friend forwarded me.

It is with deepest regret I forward this along. Rex was a straight shooter, somebody you could always count on. Another really good man gone far to soon. Ron Stryker

Rex Wards wife called me about 9:30 last night to tell me that Rex had
died yesterday. Not sure how old he was somewhere around late 50s or early
60s I would guess.
He was a lineman for Public Service Co. of NM. They were having a training
class and he was on a pole about 25 feet up the pole. He just fell off the
pole. They said the was limp when he fell. Speculation was he had a heart
attack. He was alive and they took him to the hospital. They lost him 3
times and brought him back before they lost him completely.
Since it was on the job their will be an autopsy.
I have known and shot with the Wards for some 35 or more years. Really
great people. They will be missed.
You have a mailing list of shooters and I am sure most if not all of them
know the Wards.
We are diminished,
Dick Kreischer

It’s with deepest sorrow I read Ron’s letter about Rex. I knew him but for a short time. He was a very kind and caring person and very devoted to the Lever Action game. He was one of the first promoters of shooting Lever guns on the Long Range Pistol course and was instrumental developing the rules into what it is today. He was old school and wanted the game to stay basic and enjoyable.
He will be missed…………….. Hal
