How do you shoot?"
So I have shot open sights most of my shooting life. Dropped highpower Service Rifle as 600 was a unwinnable battle. But even 200 yards has become a struggle. My last CLA match I was leading the match after turkeys with 26. Managed 2 rams, just struggled with sight picture.
So I put a SB scoped rifle together. First trip to the range, more of a pattern at chickens, figured it was a hold problem. Then I remembered reading that some SB shooters don't follow the dot, you pick the spot and let the shot happen when the dot arrives.
More than doubled my hits in the second practice.
My question is how do most of you work the target and scope thing. I have always looked the cross hair/dot onto the target, and my scores haven't been good. Am I on to something, or just a lucky day?
thanks

How do I shoot? Very poorly most of the time.
I focus on the target and when the dot arrives I squeeze the trigger.

Re: How do you shoot?"
You always want to be shooting at a small part of the target and not the entire target. If you shoot at the entire target you either hit or miss the target. If you shoot at a small part of the target you either hit or miss that part but even if you miss that part, you will likely hit the target.
So, find a spot on the target that you are going to aim at then stare at that spot. Don't look at anything but that spot. When the dot gets on the spot, let the shot go. Do that over and over and over and over again. It's that simple.

chuckD, It wasn't clear if you are using a DOT reticle. I would say about 99% of silhouette shooters use a dot. Is that what you have?

It seems that I am doing something correct for a change.
That does not happen very often.
