Here ya go.

Sierra has introduced a new 6.5mm 150gr. MatchKing. This should be a real ram slammer. Super lo drag design with a BC of .713.

Have you tried any out of a 1-8 twist at 260 velocities? Sierra's web site states 1 in 7.5. Thanks for the info Al

Varn, I just received some today. I may take a day off my busy hunting schedule tomorrow and try them out. I have seen reports of them shooting ok in a 1-8 twist.

G'day Al
Sierra used to make a 155gr MK. I shot them in a 6.5 / 257 Roberts Ackley Improved. Never had a ram stand with those but I used to drive them out at around 2900 f/s. That rifle would shoot under 2" @ 500m. Other blokes down here tried them in .260Rem with varying degrees of success.

Al, I called Sierra and they only have load data for the 6.5 Creedmoor. They said they will have load data for the other 6.5s in due time...

Mark,
I haven’t had time to give them an honest test. I’ve been busy hunting and I got a new toy from Mark Pharr I’ve been spending time with.

They recommend 1 in 7.5, but some folks have reported they work in a 1 in 8. I haven’t had time to really test them yet. I’ve been hunting, and now it’s just too damn cold here in Pa.
I’m building a 6.5 X 47 with a 1 in 7 twist, and I think these will really work well in that.
Sierra also has a 6.5 107 plastic tipped bullet out now.

Any updates on the 150gr Sierra in the 6.5x47? Load data or ideas?

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I got around to testing the Sierra 150 6.5 MK’s yesterday.

Rifle- Tikka T3 rebarreled to 6.5 X 47 with a Lilja 1-7 twist Sporter barrel 26 inches.

Lapua cases CCI 450 primers and H-4350 powder.

I was only shooting 100 yds but after adjusting the powder charge a few times I shot a group that was all in one ragged hole.

Chronograph data
High 2834
Low 2829
ES 6
AVE 2832
SD 1

I can’t wait to wallop some rams with these bad boys.

Thanks for the info, Al. Those 150s seem to be zooming along, so I'm wondering how well they're going to hold together when they hit the rams. We'll be looking forward to that test result, too. :-bd
