Aperture Alternatives

Post by Tancred »

I have two questions since the Merit sight doesn't seem to be available anymore.
1. Is there an alternative insert for a Williams sight with an aperture smaller than .050"?
2. Is the Merit that attaches shooting glasses legal?

thanks,
Tancred

You mean the adjustable Merit disks aren't available?

For months I have been waiting for them to be in stock. Several weeks ago I received a message from one online retailer that they were no longer available. My two emails to Merit have never received a reply.

It looks like merit Web site is gone. After some time I was able to get on their site. Nothing for sale they send you to three companies to buy. All three are out of stock. Don't look good at this time.

That's rough. I can't ever recall a time where I've seen a Merit product in stock.

And when you go to their three "trusted partners" they are all out of stock, with one saying the products are no longer available.

Evidently, you can still order the version that attaches to your glasses. But I don't know if that's legal for this game, or if it would really work when using with a receiver peep.

Should fit Redfield and Williams?
What's the outside diameter on that?

I had already been anticipating a move away from the Merit discs as I've been sharing one across three rifles. I was looking at getting three of these, but with the diameter being 1" there would need to be some of the disc machined away to allow clearance with the sight at its lowest. I don't particularly need the adjustable capabilities of the Merit disc; it's never moved since I set it. I want about a .050" opening with ~0.75" OD.
