It's easy to get a silhouette match approved online now. You can just go here and spend a few minutes per match instead of the old way mailing paper back and forth.

Where are you located in Illinois? We shoot silhouette at the Bench Rest Rifle Club of St. Louis in Wright City MO. (about 35 miles west of St. Louis) This is my first year to help run our rimfire matches but I am willing to try to help you. There are others on here who have been doing good things for a long time. You are certainly welcome to attend any of our matches.
There is a High Power match this Sunday. Our next rimfire match is Sunday April 8, sight in starts at 9:00.
You can reach me at joedec55@hotmail.com

Re: Need help with registered/approved tournament
jzeus, There's a difference between Approved and Registered. If you're just thinking of weekly or monthly regular matches at your club you'll want to get Approved Status not Registered. The forms you get from the NRA will explain the differences.

Just get an approved match, not a registered one. You would be swamped with NRA BS if you go more than approved.

Why not just have fun matches and skip the whole NRA thing?

Re: Need help with registered/approved tournament
Good information. Thanks for the info.
Looking into approved so folks can get classified if they desire.
Our weekly activities only for club members. If we have a formal match we can have non members attend. At that point why not do an approved match for classifications. I assume those classifications are used for competitions to national level, right?
We have a small number who would like classifications. I hope next year to travel to the nationals.
I'm also working on a new .22 range at our club and want to make sure we are ready for multiple small bore diciplines but that would be another thread.

good thinking jbzeus
very exciting to see someone working to expand our sport and create a silhouette shooting opportunity at another club
I doubt I'll ever get to Illinois to shoot silhouette at your club, but I appreciate your effort
g'luck!
