Dry firing 1712
For a dry firing practice, what do I need for 1712?
Champion has Anschutz 1827F-40 Fortner Dry Fire Adapter , but I guess it is for 1827.
Any ideas?

Re: Dry firing 1712
I've heard all of the following...
- Dry-fire away, you won't hurt it.
- Don't dry-fire without something in the chamber or you can break your firing pin.
- Use plastic drywall anchors or spent cases just so there is no chance of the firing pin peening the barrel.
- No need for anything in the chamber but use an old firing pin that has been filed back so you can't hit the barrel.
I'm sure there is some truth to all of these but which one(s) are more right than the others I can not say.

Three or four times I went to the range about a year ago I picked up the shells and have been using them for dry firing practice, and I still have a lot
I use each shell about 5-7 times, I just turn it around so the firing ping hits a clean spot
I have seen firing pins damage in friends guns who dry fire by half closing? the bolt
Kind regards from Mexico

The drywall anchors are cheep, go in easy, and can be used many times.

I go through the motions of dry firing but instead of squeezing the trigger I yell bang.
It drives my wife crazy.
