What do your swinger targets look like?

Post by DavidABQ »

Hi everyone. I am putting together a set of swinger targets for a friend of mine which got me thinking about how other people go about putting together their swingers.

For those of us fortunate to have a private shooting range with a full set of targets this does not apply to you.

For those of us who use swingers I would love to see a photo of your design. I attached a few photos so everyone can see how I go about creating a set of swinger targets.

I am having issues with photos today. Here is another photo of how my spinners go together.

Be careful not to rely on that orange dot in the center since you don't get that feature at other ranges.

Also, figuring out some kind of backer to spot your misses would be helpful, although I know it would complicate the setup.

I bent the rebar and put cotter pins beside washers. Same for the other animals. Cutouts made by Quality Targets.

You may need to take a click or two off of that ram setting, Dustin. :))

Dustin, the hanger on your spinners, do the fully encircle the frame or can they be removed?
I also notice your animal silhouettes appear to be welded to the hangers. Do you have issues with the welds breaking over time after repeated hits?

I tried to reduce the number of welds because mine would break every year or so on the chicken and pig spinner.

I like the idea of a backstop to identify my misses. I will have to ponder that.

Thank you gentlemen.

The idea of shooting at a dot came out of the shooting clinic after nationals this year. They are just a decal. I hope it will allow me to imagine a spot to aim for during a match. It doesn't last too long before it is destroyed on the chicken and pig spinner.

I am strictly using it as a training tool.

Spots? Make 'em with a bingo marker or paint pen. Makes thousands All kinds of colors. Just got to get a small one.

Dustin..... you could have a few misses on that backer plate just so we don"t feel so bad!
