Smallbore Hunter Pistol 12" rule

Post by Sporty »

Wouldn't it be nice to include the .22 LR Mare's Leg in Smallbore Hunter Pistol? However, the barrel is 0.875" too long to qualify. What are the chances the NRA silhouette committee will make a rule change to include that pistol? I'm certain Henry Repeating Arms won't shorten the barrel for a niche market.

Because it is Hunter's Pistol Silhouette. Not Hunter's Pistol Shortened Lever Action Rifle Silhouette.

Our club's smallbore lever action match director is seriously considering including Hunter's Pistol Metallic Sights and I was just looking for a reason to get a smallbore Mares Leg since I don't hunt with a pistol.

Ask the match director if you can shoot it. I would let you shoot my match. It wouldnt be for record but why not. Always welcome another body to help move steel.

The Piedmont Gun Club is 2 hours from Johnson City, TN. (GPS 35.362773, -82.017456)

Brian is also planning to add scoped and metallic sighted smallbore pistols with rifles. The first approved match may be 1st Saturday in December. Beginning March they will be the 3rd Saturday.

It is a really good looking range. Thank You for replying. I know I won’t be able to come this year but plan to make an effort to get there in 2019. Thanks.

dhatch,
This is a little off topic, but it's timely!

Sporty will be hosting Smallbore Silhouette matches at the same Piedmont Gun Club Starting next March (on the 1st Sat of the month).
He has posted the information in the Smallbore Rifle section.
If you have a bunch of vacation time saved up you can shoot 3 weekends in a row between Piedmont Gun Club, then Asheville Rifle & Pistol Club then back to PGC again (SBS, SBS, then Lever Action)!!! Can't beat that with a stick!

Hope to see you there sometime for one or all the matches!!!

Brian is including Smallbore Hunter Pistol after the smallbore lever action matches January 12th.

Sorry I won't be there. I need to be home to care for my wife. She will have a knee replaced earlier that week.

The next match will be February 2nd.

His matches will return to their regular 3rd Saturday schedule in March at the Piedmont Gun Club, Rutherfordton, NC.
