Winchester 1873 LOP

Post by Sporty »

Has anyone felt the need to increase the 13" LOP with the Winchester 1873? I haven't ordered a 73, yet, but I may want a 1" slip-on recoil pad as I'm 6'3" tall and I like the 14" LOP of my Henry FLB.

I forgot to ask what the 1873 butt stock dimensions are so I can choose the right slip-on recoil pad. Please advise.

I needed to increase the LOP on my 1873 and I'm only 6' tall but am thin so need longer LOP on my rifles. I put this one on there.

Make sure to choose the "rifle" pad. The others won't fit correctly. That shows out of stock now, but you can likely use that as an example to find it elsewhere or find a similar one.

Edit: Found it showing as in stock on the Cimarron site. Same product.

Thanks for the links. Did you add padding to yours?

I had some 1/4" black closed cell foam from a craft store that I used to try different lengths of pull, but I think I ended up with only one in there. In addition to changing length of pull, I was also trying to line up my eye with the sights. It's really easy to just cut out the little pieces of the foam from those sheets to test to see what works for you, though.
