December Match at Sunnyvale Rod & Gun

Post by jbolt »

I thought I would share a few photos of our December match.

November is traditionally our biggest match of the year where we give away turkeys, pies etc. along with our can slam where the middle animal of the second bank is painted a different color. Hit that animal and win a can of corn (c), spam (p), cranberry sauce (t) or black olives (r). Get all four and win a special can slam pin.

December has typically been light so we decided to up our game in hopes of attracting more competitors for this match.

We had our inaugural "Christmas Cookie Monster Match". The last animal in the last back is painted a special color, hit that and win a cookie shaped like that animal. Hit all four and win a Cookie Monster sticker. Class winners received a bottle of sparkling cider and a set of silhouette cookie cutters.

The Match winner was based on a handicap system so everyone had a chance to win if they performed well. Our match winner was our youngest shooter who shot his first leg into AA.

Unfortunately attendance was still light at 11. Everyone had a great time so hopefully we will attract more next year as word gets around.

Photos can be seen here. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

jbolt,
That's some great ideas to bring a little more excitement into the game during slow months!
Where did you get the cookie cutters? Make them yourself? Machined from plastic?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks! Trying to keep the sport alive in our little piece of the world.

I made the cookie cutters on a 3D printer. I have extras I can post in the marketplace if anyone is interested.

It is a BBQ lighter made by a company named Gibson. They also make a bolt action version with scope but I could not find one locally. Amazon has them for around $20. I found the lever gun locally at a sporting goods store called Big 5 for $9.
