Good idea, all the top shooters use CZ's nowadays, Anschutz's are a waste of money.

You could always look at the equipment survey from the national match result bulletin. I found it helpful to see what experienced shooters were using.

Ok, need some more help. Apparently there are about 12 or 13 sub models to the CZ 455. There are trainers, Varmints, and several others. Can anyone tell me which models are not only legal for hunter class but also recommended for silhouette competition? Thanks again.

I know I have owned a dozen Anschutz sporters and both the two stage and single stage triggers have some mush. Sporter triggers are not match triggers. They do not break clean like a jewell trigger. The aftermarket trigger I have on my CZ is just like a jewell. I am not saying the stock CZ trigger is better than a Anschutz, but the aftermarket replacement trigger is crisper. Sorry I did not make that clear.
Same said for the barrels. A lilja with a match chamber will most likely out shoot a standard sporter barrel 99/100.
I don't think this is a radical view because there are plenty of hunter rifles built with the 54 MSR action with an aftermarket barrel. If the sporter triggers and barrels were top notch, no one would be investing in MSR conversions. I have the full blown Evelio MSR, a couple Pharr 1712's, 4 factory MSRs, and 4 1710/1712s at the moment, and I think a custom CZ is overkill for offhand, and so are the other rifles mentioned.

It was this one Jim, one of the few triggers Anschutz made not up to par with a CZ.

I used to use a CZ455 American with a trigger job and some weight added to the forearm.

If you can find a CZ 452 Silhouette or Style mode on the secondary marker I would certainly buy that instead of the 455 American. The stock on the Silhouette and Style is damn near a copy of the Anschutz 1712 stock.

I shoot a Cz 452 silhouette in hunter & a anshutz 64msr in std. I shoot AA & AAA scores. I score better with the 64 usually. I cleaned up my Cz trigger & action & it shoots nice. But the stock & trigger on the 64 are far better. They both shoot well at 100m with the 64 shooting maybe 1/4 - 1/8" smaller 5 shot groups. But I can't hold near that. The Cz was $400 and it's a great hunting gun. The Cz also has a 16x scope & the 64 has a 24x. So it's hard to be fair. Love the Cz for the $$$. I just got a 455 varmint in 17hmr for light varmint hunting. Should be fun.
