By "heavier", do you mean a heavier action, therefore the barrel taper would be less than on a standard 1712 to get the same weight? By inference then, the balance point would be further back?

Thanks,

Rex

54:18 action is a bit "beefier" though it is typically not an issue making weight with either action with a composite stock....Just about any balance you could want can be achieved with either.....the "beefier" thing is a "feel" (here's the subjective part) that I like. Can't explain it, just feels better to me, as does the 1712 to some folks. Cost of building a Frankenhunter with a 54:18, especially considering that they are no longer a catalog item is considerably more, and has been so in the past, whick steers a lot of folks to the 17--series actions for their builds.

We're stealing poor Byron's ad here, but like John said in a custom built you can just about get the balance any where you want it. I believe my 54.18 was just in front of the trigger guard by the magazine well. You want more forward weight, they can add weight to the fore piece, more rear in the butt stock.

Hey:

Don't worry be happy! The gun is for sale but doesn't have to be sold. I have been asked what price that I really want for the gun. I think that the price for the gun is more than fair. A good friend might get it for a little less but would know that there would be a pay back latter. Just ask Mike Coleman. We still don't know how much we own each other.

Hammy....shooting like an 11 year old girl sounds better to me. Byron, you and mike need a manager for all the trades? I will not charge too much for the bookkeeping. Rex, you will like this rifle, and if you don't I'm not sure what will work, the 52 is a nice rifle too.

I do not understand how this has happened. Too bad man.

I am looking for a nice silhouette rifle for next season. I have tried to purchase two through this forum with no results. If anyone knows of a heavy hunter for sale I would appreciate some info.

Thanks,

Rex

WHOA COWBOY !

When you make offers for less than the asking price, Don't return phone calls or e-mails requesting a phone call, the buyer might sell the gun to someone who makes a better offer earlier than you did! I replied to all the PM's and requests for information. I politely declined your offer to trade guns, an offer for 2000.00 dollars and a offer of 2200.00. I also turned down your 2200.00 offer with a PM before I posted the other offer on the Web Site.

:-t I'm going to have to agree with Byron on this Rex. The offer of $2000.00 is a slap in the face b-( . Those of who build these rifles take this sport very seriously giving up a lot to be able to afford such beautiful and precision pieces of workmanship. I have four custom silhouette rifles and have had to make choices like eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a long time to be able to afford them. Those of us who own these guns and decided to part with them wont let them go for pocket change. I don't mean to affend you in any way but this is how it is bro :-bd
