David,
Not sure what my plans are, still unemployed and still dealing with some health issues with the better half. I will certainly try to get at least to cowboy.

I'm thinking of just pulling a camper onto the grounds. Does anyone else do this or is it a bad idea?

Lots of campers there during the nationals. The west campground has a lot more room between trailers than the east one.

Thanks for the info Jerry. Do I need to reserve a space? Do they even take reservations?

I stayed in this area last year and there was a nice little state campground by a lake just NE of Raton (I think its called Sugarite) by a couple miles. Was thinking of that one as an alternative, but it was a bit buggy. But I did see a herd turkeys wandering through the campground there. Hitting one of those with my camper might be the only turkeys I put down that weekend! =))

I hope to see you there. I am unsure if I will make it. I started a new job so vacation time is tight.

Having the last high power matches on Sunday is a deal killer for me. I can't take off an extra Monday to drive home. What's going on here?

I made hotel arrangements today so I am committed to going. I look forward to meet everyone who attends.

Can anybody tell me what the format is for Small bore and hi power sil at nationals. Shoot 2 days or three how many matches each day and # of targets. Thinking about going to one of them this year but have never shot at the nationals.

Hi KG
Normally there is a day of practice the day before the match. Thus the 13th would be a practice day for smallbore and then you shoot the match on 14,15,16 July. Then there will be a day off or practice day for Highpower on the17th and then the HP match is shot on the 18th, 19th, 20th July. Usually standard rifle is shot in the morning, 40 shots, and hunter in the afternoon, 40 shots each day. So three days of the match for each rifle with a total of 120 shots for score for each rifle. The elevation is 6800 feet so it can be cool in the mornings, 50 or 55 and up to 90 or 95 during the day. Expect rain and wind. If you want to shoot paper targets for smallbore bring them and some sort of stand for them. Swingers are on both ranges. You need to bring all your drink and food for the day-cake-. Sometimes there is a lunch wagon and sometimes not. The firing lines are covered and also shelters but a lot of people bring ezups if they have them. Sometimes the paint is not out so paint for the swingers if you want them painted white and black. There are some site in benches at the ranges. Lots of things to look at in the area so spend a few days poking about. Any more questions holler. Yankee Chad

To add to what Yankee said. Sleet, Hail, Thunder, Lightning and enough wind to destroy anything not tied down really well. Winnsboro is a challenge to your marksmanship skills because of heat and humidity. Raton is a challenge because of the possible weather conditions.

Ok thanks i have shot at the nationals but never at the hi power sil or Smallbore matches. One other question would a anschutz 1712 be ok for hunter class since it has a two stage trigger from the factory?

OR, there are plenty of spaces there. I don't think you need to reserve a spot as long as there arn't too many other things going on that week.

krgriggs, yes on the 1712 as long as it can pass the 2 pound trigger weight.

Just got my paperwork in the mail for Nationals. So I'm going to sign up as a B shooter (which I am right now), but what happens if I move up before then?

OldRanger, Just let Greg Connor or whoever is helping him hand out the packets with the scorecards when you go to the Stats Shed at the range. They will update your classification at the range. This happens all the time. There will be many who move up in between mailing in the entry form and the first match day.

Great, thanks.
