Re: 2015 Nationals
Concerning the number of banks and attendance at the 2014 Smallbore Nationals in Raton. I looked at the official roster for the 2013 Smallbore Nationals in Ridgway and there were not significantly more people in Ridgway in 2013 than in Raton in 2014. When you look at the actual numbers, attendance in the Smallbore was about the same last year and this year. We may not have a large quantity of people shooting Silhouette but we do have quality people shooting Silhouette. I think we all prefer quality over quantity.

"We want shooters, shooters, shooters - any way to get new shooters and keep the ones we have is good with us - other people, clubs and places may be different."
Author of the above to go unnamed since he can't defend himself according to this recent statement: "I'm breaking my new rule of no conversations on SteelChickens unless it is to promote a match"

You are a real hooligan and troublemaker.
Just kidding.
I enjoyed my time at NRA Whittington Center when nationals come there. I understand people's desire to have it at different locations but I think with the rules being the way they are alternating between Raton and Ridgeway is probably the best compromise.

The unmentioned Mr. "I'm breaking my new rule" will change his mind when his "any shooters, shooters, shooters" point a loaded rifle at him because they are too inept to follow the most basic Firearm Safety rules. You have got to love a youngster's enthusiasm for promoting this great sport though and his boundless energy.

Re: 2015 Nationals
I guess we'll just agree to disagree then. Greg personally vets the applications for who will hold nationals, then he makes a recommendation to the committee and they approve it. If he were to recommend a site that had 8 banks not 10 they would still approve it I would bet. I'm not saying Raton and/or Ridgeway are bad. Nor am I saying that the actual running of the match is bad. It is everything else. The man couldn't even follow a conversation, he kept answering questions that weren't asked. He doesn't listen, he dictates. And the committee isn't much better cause they stand behind him no questions asked. Personally I feel like we have no control and no say in anything, we just have to keep paying their salaries.atomicbrh wrote:My experience running matches tells me that Greg Connor is NOT the problem; no matter what anybody states on the forum. I get the feeling Greg is just the guy caught in the middle between the competitors and somebody or some executive NRA committee in the NRA Competitive Division. About 12 years ago Chicken George gave me some good advice. Chicken told me that running Silhouette matches is like volunteering at Church or for some event in your community. No matter how hard you try to please everybody, be fair to everyone and do the job you volunteered for, somebody will be mad at you before it is over.
