I don't know how I could forget Lee O'Neil and Bill Motl. And I misspelled Tim Kurreck's name.
I know a fellow named Clark Mason but he doesn't shoot. Clark Williams, of course. Perhaps if Clark hadn't left the sport my memory would be better. And, perhaps not. I'll always remember him shooting 10 pigs in the Coonass Team Shoot with one of those old Remington Nylon bolt actions. When I asked him the trigger weight he said: "About 10 pounds. Wanna try it?"
I know Tureau has hit 40 "in competition" at some venue because it was fairly big news, at least in our circles, when he did it. I won't quibble about "registered." I recall he was using his 60 power Tasco. When I asked him why he used so much power he said: "Makes the animal look bigger."
I think I might shoot better if I were a little less of a fan.

I shoot my class or above 100% of the time.
B class that is..............not for long though, I am getting a little better
I have noticed that aroun the matches I've shot about half the folks shoot next class down about half the time.
I was disappointed a couple of weeks ago to miss 1st "B" in standard highpower at the AZ state championships. I shot a score that was darn good for me only to lose the aggregate to an out of state shooter that posted scores that would have won or nearly won all his matches in the next higher class in both standard and hunter. At least I took the 1st B on one of the days matches..........now I'm a A shooter looking to get better.
I do feel like a jerk for thinking he was sandbagging, and ended up talking with him and finding out he just had a couple of good days it seems.

I was at Ridgway and had the opportunity to look through Jerry's 60 power.... Yes they look a lot bigger and that big they should be easy to hit, right!!!! But I found they run a lot faster through the scope too

Sobrbiker, just keep shooting and dryfire when you cant shoot. You will make it to A sooner than you think. I think it is interesting after thinking about this, that the higher class shooters shoot below their class 50% of the time and the lower class shooters shoot about 50% of the time above their class.

All of this talk of numbers raised a question in my mind.
What is the most common score logged in a match for all shooters?
Would be an interesting distribution curve. My guess would be somewhere
in the AA class.
Does anyone have any hard data?

Jeff, that is very interesting thought. I would bet it would depend on the caliber of the match. I think you are right and would say around a 21 to 24. Just a guess but hey most the time I pull the trigger I am guessing.

Thanks kevinp, dryfiring has helped me alot recently, especially since I stopped doing it at 30ft inside at reduced sils on paper and switched to holding on distant (600yd+) points outside.
I'm A in HP standard, and one match away from A in both classes SB....
