With apologies to Ronald Reagan, "I'm from the NRA and I'm here to help."

Wow...I may be frustrated with the NRA but I would never equate them to the government, and I certainly don't want to count on individuals to muscle the BATFE and Congress. You should notice that the NRA does a credible job at Camp Perry. Maybe, just maybe, the problem lies with Greggie

Snake,
I thought the discussion was about the competitions division rather than legislative matters. In that context, I do compare the two. Sorry.

Snake is correct in that the problem lies with Greg Connor. It is most fortunate for him that he works for the NRA as he would not last 10 seconds in the private sector as an employee. Incompetency is the word that most comes to mind when his name is mentioned to me! A one-armed, one-legged blind monkey could do a better job than Mr. Connor. I also do not give a rat's ass if he reads this post or it is forwarded to him as the truth his not in his vocabulary!

Ladies and Gents,
I respectfully disagree with the premise that Greg is the root cause of our woes. The buck, in my mind, does not stop with Greg. Does anyone what to hazard a guess as to the number of emails, phone calls, face-to-face discussions and letters addressing Greg's performance that have been addressed to his superiors? No, it is the NRA's upper-management that owns this buck. If they gave a damn about guys and gals like us, Greg would have been gone long ago and the competition office would be humming like a dynamo instead of the full-blown incompetence we match directors have seen for years and years and years. I've got horror stories about that office and Mrs. Chin that would blow you away, figuratively that is.
Here's a prime example of how badly the NRA's performance has declined. Back in say, 2004, there were close to 400 competitors at the BPCR Silhouette national championships at Raton. Now that number is about 130 participants. The NRA mucky-mucks said it was all about the economy a few years back. That was, until one of the NRA's VP's went to the Quigley match and saw 600 competitors for a 2-day, 48-shot match, with competitors from numerous other countries: New Zealand, Australia, Canada, England, Germany and probably a few more.
For the first 100 years or so of the NRA's existence, they focused on educational classes for hunting, competitive shooting and gun safety as well as organizing and running matches; which back then, they did very well. Now, being a DC lobby is their main focus. There’s a reason the Olympic shooters departed the NRA, not too long after the Cincinnati Revolt in 1977. Now, the NRA doesn't much care about competitive shooting as evidenced by the people they employ and the people they don't hire to make sure their competition department runs well.

Dan, You had another post the other night that was an interesting read before it was edited or you pulled it. Back when Neal Knox ran against Moses (as he called Charlton), the Heston camp said vote against Knox if you are a compitive shooter, because Neil wants to do away with the shooting programs as they are a drain on NRA funds. That is what they treat the Silhouette crowd like it seems to me.

But....I AM NOT MAD AS HELL, just annoyed by the incompetence shown by the the NRA tournament reporting/silhouette dept. Reading Dans post about it happening to a fellow CRC match director, especially saying they had also cashed his check shows this is a wide spread internal problem.
Some one here must have tipped off Mr.Willing of my recent post. I had a message on my answering machine today asking me to call him ASAP. I will call him from work tomorrow to see what he has to say. I will not be sending in any more reports or funds I am told are delinquent. I have a copy of my cleared check cashed by the NRA. I had a pleasant conversation last month with Mr.Willing and expect no less tomorrow. I will report back what transpired between us.
To those CRC HP shooters wondering about the future of the game here, rest assured. I will continue to run matches and practice sessions forever if need be WITH or WITHOUT the NRA.
Well any UPDATE to report on yet Bob!!!!!

Yes, Bob. I got through to Dennis Willing about 2pm. his time yesterday. It was just a coincedence that he called me Tuesday, not from my rant on SC Monday. Turns out that the third and final notice was auto sent out in error. He mainly called to update me on their internal IT progress for match reporting as he promised to do. No progress in that area yet but he is staying on them for a fix.
For the time being he wants me to send all my reports to both his and Mrs.Chin's email. The conversation was pleasant as expected, but I did express my level of frustration with the amount of problems they have put me through over the years. Again he stated we will improve, give us time. So for now I will resume being a match director again (like I ever really quit.)

I did send Mrs. Chin a short written letter asking her to email me confirmation that all 2012 issues they have with me have been resolved. Only then will I submit my 2013 planned match dates. No hurry there as we do not shoot an approved match until April.
So for now, all is well with me and the NRA tournament reporting dept.

I have a question....Are there any viable candidates seeking Greggie's job? If not why not? When I started some old fart ran the Silhouette department and Margarite Everhart first won the nationals as a young skinny kid. Then Nancy Cooney came along because the old fart was a giant pain and she was attractive and didn't know squat about silhouette.....She treat us like vermin or something to be scrapped off your shoe......the numbers started their downward slide. When greg came along...he was actually an improvement...he was pleasant if not dopey. Mrs Chinn is liable to be his replacement....oh joy an inscrutable oriental
Right now I'm looking at a Congress filled with non-gun types lined up behind a left wing President who are trying via misinformation, propaganda and the lame-stream media to outlaw anything that goes bang including Lindsay Lohan...so i will forgive the NRA on the competitions problem for the time being.
But point of fact the Olympic shooters are trapped by international rules and politics and the NRA in not part of the ISU and in some participant nations is regard as a para military non-government sponsor......etc and worse. Thank you liberal democrats for your participation in alternate realities to support your power agendas.
One last comment......have you guys ever seen what some people call 'paperwork' and what they think is 'in order' or legible
