There has been several questions about the bolt knob on John's gun, first of all, they are perfectly legal for the hunter class, they were several different kinds used at the Nationals, specially in the High Power rifles.
The larger knobs on the 54.18 will unscrew, with some force, the smaller knobs on the 1712, 1710 actions are also threaded, but they put some kind of epoxy on them, all 4 that I replaced, broke in two pieces after I aplied some force with a pair of pliers.
The thread on the Anchutz bolt is metric, Shooters Choice have several kinds that will screw right on. The tactical larger knob on John's rifle has an NC thread, so the bolt had to be re-threaded. The tactical knobs are available from Brownells.

Ok I'm finally done customizing my 1712 "for now". Here is what I've got on it.
1) Anschutz 1712 barrelled action.
2) Mark Pharr "split finger" stock made by Ian Robertson of www.robertsoncomposites.com
3) Mark Pharr custom trigger guard.
4) Marv Pearson custom 3/8" trigger shoe.
5) Marv Pearson custom scope base and mounts.
6) Leupold 6.5-20 x 50mm scope with 1/2" Leupold dot.
7) Anschutz factory anodized "blue" bolt knob.

I shoot on Vancouver Island, Canada. There is a large dedicated following of Silhouette shooters here and many of the guys are shooting simillar rifles to the one I just built. I will try and upload many of their rifles as I get pic's from them.

Both guns are sssssssexy....I like the segregation to. Lets keep the blue guns over here and the red ones over in the other post......

Innocent, you rifle always is always welcome in my group, not matter what the color......Got to keep you away from the riff raff......or other riff raff that is not me.....Did you get a fade stock or the Vermont Granite?. Wonder what color of blue powdercoating would look good???

It is the granite, actually more red than blue if I remember correctly. Haven't started worrying about the mounts yet, will get to that when she comes back from Texas, sent athe action and barrel out two weks ago so it'll be a while unless Santa lights a fire under Mark.

Of course I've been good so that might happen!!!

Are you using the BKL 257-A or 257H-A rings? I picked a set of both up cheap on eBay to test and, while they both let me get good cheek pressure on the stock, I had to tilt my head forward more than I wanted to to use the 257-A (the standard height) rings. I'm trying to figure out exactly what heigh I want and then keep in that way for at least several months and just practice...

Am using the 257-A mounts. For me (chubby cheeks) the fit is perfect.
