The Range will be open at 7:30 Sat for the boys to set up....then when the range master directs we can all sight in/practice/make noise. Sunday ...no shooting before 8 am (neighbors are sleeping)...we will probably start a little later sunday for those of you who really need practice :D

Generally the gate will NOT be open friday. Club rules (due to various abuses) require either a RSO or a club member to supervise non-members. I will be back forth FRIday .....but Omalley plans to be on campus practicing his trigger music......so if you call his cell phone round about noon a fella might be able to arrange something. But note there are NO swingers set up (except Mr gallina) So your sight -in /practice will be on paper at 200 and 300 and 600 (there are no target holders at 385 and 500. The Range will be converted Saturday morning....with all of us scambling to get zeros......I will explain later . The super secret cell # is 314-3748985.....Breath heavily in the phone so he thinks its OK to talk :(|)

We'll just bring a sackful of zeros from Arkansas....they work anywhere...what you do is just set your scope on 0 and it will hit chickens...I've got numbers for all the other animals too...works great :-?

Missed you and Miss Mini at sight in and practice today Commander. Only the Colorado clan and that low life AZ shooter, JB, were at the range today..arrived at 2pm. Yep, only a single shredded chicken swinger to work over. We set up paper benchrest targets at all distances to check zeroes. Then this gale force thunder boomer storm passes thru and distributes the targets into the next county. Thirty minutes later all was calm and we finished up our zeroes.

Me and Mr. Bonner drove practically non stop 650 miles on Thursday just to get a belly full of Biffles before they closed for the evening. Oh...those baby back ribs.......:D

I will post a score update Saturday nite after dinner.

We got spared the predicted storm and had a real calm morning and it was just a little breezy off and on this afternoon. Temps peaked out at about 88-90. Match started at 9am on time and the last shots were fired at 6:30 pm. We have 36 shooters and about 52 guns in the event. There is a tight race going on in both classes of guns so far with one more match each gun to be fired in the morning. I will have to admit, this match takes it 's toll on a body, we are all beat and will hit the hay early. So, I will only post the top five scores so far in both guns.

HEAVY RIFLE
S Valenti...M...50/80
P O'Malley..M...53/80
J Beckley...M...56/80
L Oneil.....M...56/80
R Bain....AA....62/80

HUNTER RIFLE
B McAlice...AAA..50/80
R Bain......AA.....51/80
J Beckley...M......56/80
D Bonner...M......57/80
L Oneil.....M......57/80

Now the bad news. I lost three rams with my beloved 7-08 heavy gun. To be fair, they were poorly placed hits. Two center punched the dinger and the other was at the top of the front leg. You can bet I got a lot of "man cartridge" crap from from the peanut gallery over that. But...a quick survey revealed that over a dozen failed to fall from various hits from the popular 6.5's in the crowd.

Tommorrow is another day and anything can happen, but that tough old wheat farmer is still proving he has what it takes to win. I will post the final results when I return home Monday unless someone else (39shot)?? would be kind enough to post the winners. I will post some pictures later in the week.

Dave and I will hit Biffles again after we drop off JB at the airport Sunday evening. Monday morning we will be detouring south of Kansas City to pick up a large care package of goodies from Powder Valley reloading supplies. What we wont do to save our Colorado brothers hazmat fees and taxes. 8)

Had a real good time at the match. It was ran real well. Someone who shoots one of those "Manly 7-08's" rang quite a few rams, twice with his chickens loads, right after Bonner told him to make sure you are using your rams loads, won't mention any names though! Ron Bain took the SR, O'Neil was second, I was third. Lee O'Neil took the HR, Bonner was second, I was third. McAlice or someone I'm sure will post some pictures.

Perhaps one should check out the "dinged ram" count for 6.5's.....there was even a dinged pig by one of those pea shooters. Bullets explode...things happen. McAlice needs to use something other than 100 grainers. Valenti shoots 168's in his BR and not one dinger and he had a pretty good ram count. In fairness if the wind is from the north our rams can be a problem...even though they sit on little pads...so go figure. Thanks to all you competitors for a safe and good time...it made my job easier. If any of you have any suggests to improve things...drop me a line. thanks again

Almost forgot......A Great BIG Thank You to Sierra Bullets and Lapua for their product donations.....they really really came through and aside from their superlative products...they deserve our patronage. Thanks to Hodgdon....for the hats, flash lights, coffee mugs, and range bag.

I liked the answer that one of the shooters gave when someone told McAlice to start shooting 175's instead of 168's, that it will just make a louder clank when you ring them. I don't know where else you can shoot 2 rifles for a total of 240 shots, get fed three times, and have good target service. All for the price of 106.50. If you haven't shot this match, pencil it in for next year!

What!!!..........the only recognition I get is for ringing a couple of rams?? I did win 1st place AAA with the hunter gun. 8) And if those chicken load shot ringers had fallen, along with a host of other targets, I would have been knocking on Beckleys door. :?

Great match Snake. You and Mr.O'Malley did a bang up job again this year. We will be back.

That 200 mile detour south to POWDER VALLEY today put us behind in returning home tonite. Got in at 7:30. We hauled three thousand dollars worth of assorted 8lb. jugs of powder back for our comrades on the home front. We kept the speed in check so as to not get the law suspicious of Bonners van sagging a bit. He would think we were hauling a bunch of of "undocumented" migrants. Instead he would have seen the powder and called in a rolling suicide car bomb looking for a target. The whole state of Kansas would have been on lock down.

I'll get some pictures posted this week. I'm finishing up a beer then hitting the pillow.

Hi All,

Snake put on a great match! This match should be renamed to the Real Iron Man Match. Shooting 240 highpower shots for score plus any warm up and sighter shots really takes a told on your body. The match had good food, prizes, fast target setters and was well run by Bob and Pat. About the 6.5mm vs the 7mm they seem to have lost about the equal number of rams. if you take out the shooters using the CPT loads on the rams, shooters using 7mm 130's and shooters using reduced power 6.5 ram loads. The ram loss seemed to be very close. I lost one ram with a poor shot that was about 1 inch in off the rump, the ram moved a few inches on the stand and failed to fall. I had plenty of not in the center of mass hits that took the rams over using a 6.5mm 142 Sierra Match King out of a 260 and a 6.5x47 Lapua.

Thanks fellas for the compliments. As an aside off center hits on the ram are the better hits to take them off...a center of mass hit distributes the impact evenly to both feet thus halving your impact energy...sloppy hits unlike sloppy seconds are actually preferable :ymdevil:
