That sounds like fun.
Ooohh yeaaahhh. Five times the fun exactly.
Bonner got hooked using my Ruger 77 in 7x57 then bought a Tikka wood stock in 6.5x55. It took him to master with high mileage on the carbon barrel. He fell into the sweetest deal on the planet when an ex competitor sold him all of his full blown custom 700's in .260 and 6.5x47 Lapua.

I think I will stick with the old school .308 for now. Toss the cheap stock and put some glass on there that is worthy of being there. Go play at NRA Whittington Center to get some scope settings on their High Power Silhouette range.
Yep, that sounds like a good plan.

There's 2 pages of take-off barrels on gunbroker for 700's alone, several other places have them as well, they start at 75.00 and go to 150.00, most gunsmiths charge less than 100.00 to swap them. I've had six 7-08's, four of them started out as 243's and 308's. The Guru knows this process better than anyone on here, ask him.

I know a big boy that got the crap knocked out of him by a 270. He is now shooting a 260.
