What is the latest on the NRA changing the classifications and fees for shoots?

Nothing, Zip, Zero. Silhouette committee meets on November 7 & 8. Any rule changes plus National dates will be established then.

I doubt it. The only way I could see it happening is if the cost is outrageous. If it is a slight increase I'm sure we will just eat it. The way they are POSSIBLY changing the classifications is really insignificant. Instead of an A shooter you are now a marksman (or whatever) but you still would shoot against similar level shooters, which is really the whole point of classes.

I don't see that happening, what I do see happening is only registering the State matches and your weekly/monthly matches just be club matches and not registered to avoid any additional fees which would only serve to reduce participation.

You guys are probably correct. If the cost increases beyond what the match directors feel is fair you will probably see less NRA approved matches and more "fun" matches.

Our Wisconsin NRA board doesn't even know what SB Silhouette is. I had a prefilled State Match Form, which I signed and mailed with following years NRA Tournament Date Application to the NRA. After our State Tournament, I'd fill out the State Fee Form for $3.50 each participant and mail to State NRA mail box. If the NRA raises the Tournament Fees a couple dollars, we will be okay at our club. If change in Classifications.......no big concern. This world is all about change, if you want to go along with it.

Snakes? I resemble that remark. Isn't the silhouette committee made up of 'our' folks? and regarding the creation of another sanctioning body....how's that IMSHA doing.....more rule changers than dogs have fleas

Not sure of the full subject but the pretty decent rumor I have heard (and maybe discussed elsewhere in Chickens) is that the classification books may be eliminated--I believe silhouette is the only NRA sport to use books like this covering so many individual sports. Then the sport will go to the normal (for other disciplines) of where the club and/or match director mails in or possibly emails the results/scores for all shooters at that particular (NRA approved or sanctioned match) and those scores will be posted into the NRA files for each shooter who will have an assigned competitor number. Then when a competitor finally shoots out of his or her particular level the NRA upgrades them and they are notified of such advancement with a new card showing their new competition level for subsequent matches. Anyone trying to sandbag can be also caught by checking what they claim (they MUST present their card at the match) with what the NRA has in their file--just as with other NRA sports.

This is a bunch of extra work though. However, as with other NRA disciplines each competitor would also pay additional NRA fees (probably 1.50 to 3 bucks--I don't know) to enter that approved or sanctioned NRA match just as with all OTHER NRA shooting competitions. There will probably be more non-NRA matches as a result but then those scores and any records set will not be recognized and in THOSE cases even the rules may not apply depending on the club's and match director's desires. One thing for sure, those who shoot .22, high-power, BP. Cowboy, handgun, etc. will be paying a bit more than the purchase of one classification book. Then again, it won't kill any of us, I can make that fee up with five rounds of high-power ammo.

It will be interesting IF (remember I said IF) if it goes down like this. Sniveling to the committee members will not help, their mission is to advise on rules, not NRA procedures and policies, and this would be a new NRA procedure and policy designed to fall into compliance with all the other NRA sports. And to stop potential assassinations, it would not be not be ordered by the Sil. Dept people; Connors or Raney, but pay grades way above them. The Sil. Dept. would simply have to follow the new procedure if (again I repeat for those who do not read details IF IF IF) it all happens this way.
