Glen, Yes I do, I've had it for a while and only shot it about once a year until last year when my shooting got sucky-er and I decided I was tired of the 45-70 pounding me. Kicks like a 38-55 but much better on rams.
Ram load is 47gr. 3f swiss ,2ea .030 ldpe wads 400gr bullet, compressed .150 . John

As I'm quickly turning into an old man, I'm concerned about too much recoil. I want to try BPCR and this was the cartridge I found that looks like the perfect one for a recoil sensitive old guy like me. Thanks for your reply.

Glen, I had a 40-60 maynard in a stevens 44 1/2 until it got stole and liked it a lot. It had a #3 barrel and was a good trade off between not too much recoil and still light enough for a old man to hold up for chickens.
Put a Green Mt. 38-55 on a CPA 44 1/2 and it was a tack driver but got tired ringing rams so made it a 38-56 now it gets the rams but hard to load accuretly for.
Got two 40-65"s one a CPA w/ #4 barrel [ too heavy for chickens] and a C. Sharps High Wall w/ a #3 barrel which kicks a little.
What I'm saying here is it's a trade off.
If I was just starting out in this game, w/ what I know now, I'd get a 40-65 C Sharps 74 or HW w/ single set trigger and standard barrel, shotgun butt and drilled and taped for scope blocks for when your eyes can't see irons anymore.
Load down for all but Rams, 40-65 is very easy to get shooting good. HTH John

Believe the Jr & Intermediate Jr BPCR records are still held by Jacob Bly with a 40-50 Sharps. IIRC, he has rung only one (1) ram over the years with the 40-50. That said, using a LimbSaver shoulder pad makes my 40-65 a pussycat to shoot.
