Tikka T3 Lite - Adding Weight

I'm in the process of setting up a Tikka T3 Lite in .308 for Hunter class and am wondering if anyone has experience adding weight to this model rifle. I've been thinking about placing shot in the honey-comb area of the stock in front of the receiver, but am unsure how to secure it (The last thing I need is shot running out of stock while shooting :) . The only solution I've come up with is to epoxy the shot into the individual openings. Would this work or is there a better solution? Would adding the weight to this area throw the gun out of balance? I'd like to do something, I have a Limbsaver pad coming, to soften the recoil. Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom

I would use 'water soluble' white glue so you can remove it later if you want to.

A little clear silicone or calking works good and very easy to remove. put silicone into stalk and add lead shot to desired weight. Can be contoured to miss barrel with wet finger. To remove it will just come out in one piece. Works for me.

That limbsaver is a shoulder saver. I shoot the exact same gun (except mine is left handed). I haven't put any weight in it yet. I'm considering it, but I'd need to be able to remove it as I hunt with this rifle too. Let me know what you do and how it turns out will ya? Might save me some time on trial and error.

Old Ranger, Sighted in my rifle today after adding ~1 lb. of weight primarily in front of the recoil lug. The clear caulking seems to be holding the shot in place and the extra lb. makes a noticeable difference in felt recoil off of the bench. We'll see how it works out tomorrow, in my first High Power rifle match. Tom

Good luck Tom and have fun in your first HP match!

Now I'm gonna have to drop some shot in there too....

Tell me Tom, you didn't let the old stranger touch your new gun. =))
