First match

I shot my first CLAS match today and ended up with a 14. Not too bad for me considering I only have sight settings for chickens and pigs. So was trying the old hold over technique for turkeys and rams. Also rang 3 or 4 rams. I figure that this is more to do with the fact that the range I shot at is just getting started with the match so their targets are still sitting on the ground and not a rail or stand. It was also raining down there today. I know that the load I am using will knock the rams off of a rail. Even though I drove a 240km (174m for those not playing in Australia) round trip to get to the range I still had a great time. Which was made more special by the fact that I was using a rifle that my dad used to own.

Hey Westy, well aware of the "sickness" already. I've spent a far bit of money and time on the handgun side of the game. But I still reckon that it is a good disease to have. I shot down at the SSAA Gladstone range today. It is about 22km west'ish of Calliope.

The more you shoot this game the more excuses you collect.
You mentioned it was raining. Wet bullets could be the problem.
I discovered that sun from the right is better than sun from the left.
In Australia you can blame the Coriolis Effect.
Start collecting early.

I have a roledex full of excuses that I use when my wife beats me, which is usually the case.

Depending on which way you look at it I am either lucky or unlucky that there isn't a 500m range close by. If there was I would no doubt be looking for a suitable HP rifle as well as a BPCR one as well.

How funny. We (here in the Republic of Texas) have Black Widow spiders in the outhouses - they have a black body with a red area on the belly. Seems the Black Widow with the bottom red with be appropriate for you guys as you are "Down Under.".......
