I'm looking at a new CZ 452 are they better than the first ones I believe they were called the CZ 455 Americans.

The 452 is the older version to the 455. The biggest change was the 455 added the function of user-swappable barrels and magazine wells (22LR, 17HMR, 17HM2, and 22MAG), otherwise they are essentially the same thing.

Some users believe the 452 is superior but evidence for that is anecdotal at best, with both versions having individual examples ranging from so-so to stellar.

Also, with the 455, you can use the two stage mrFly trigger, its a no go on the 452 and A prefix serial numbered 455s.

There's not much difference in them if any accuracy wise, luck of the draw so to speak, some of both will be good and some not so good, if you get either with a good chamber and decent crown they usually will shoot good, there are some examples of 452's and 455's that are much more accurate than they should be and there usually the Trainer model in the 452, I dont know why, but I have a trainer that is unreal accurate.

I have the 455, and for what it's worth, it has been an amazing rifle. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

It should serve you quite well. It definitely has the ability to shoot AAA scores. One thing to consider is future upgrades. The bonus of going the 455 route is that Lilja makes a drop-in match barrel for it and CZ makes a 2-stage trigger for it (but neither of these are available on the 452).

About two years ago, I put in a Lilja barrel. Install was crazy easy, and my CZ 455 with Lilja barrel (and wolf match target) will put 5 in a dime at 100m.

Thanks for the info guys. Ill hold out till I find a 455 then. The 452 was only $400 but that much would be better spent on my Ruger 77/22.
