I've had good luck Varget and 4895 when using SMK 150gr.

Best 7-08 Powder

Varget followed by IMR 4064. Close to the same burning rate. Varget is easier to meter through the powder measue and is more consistent from lot to lot.

I used H4895 when I was shooting the 7-08. I found the rams to fall every time with 168's running at an easy on the shoulder 2300 fps. This is far from a full case load. H4895 has a reputation of providing more consistent ignition from a partially full load than other powders. This showed up as more consistent velocities and tighter groups in my bench testing against RL-15.
