The last post that I am seeing was Thursday September 14th. Wonder what's up with this?

I take the lack of recent posts as a good sign for the sport.
Stable rules means no drama that is worth posting about.
Clear rules that need no interpretation means no drama worth posting about.

In hobbies sometimes lots of posting means lots of problems and controversy with that particular hobby. The vast majority of silhouette competitors are on the same page.

Other reasons could be:
1. No big matches looming in the next few months.
2. A lot of people are preoccupied with football.
3. A lot of people are working at their hunting camps.
4. A lot of people have spent money on hunting equipment, hunting club dues and planting food plots. Thus no money available for silhouette matches or new silhouette equipment this time of the year.

Well, in one way, yes, Steel Chickens is broken. There are multiple people over on RFC that have been having troubles getting registered on the site. Some have managed to get through the process after switching web browsers but I'm not sure that's working for everyone.

On a different note, our silhouette range is under seven feet of water from Hurricane Harvey, down from the peak of 19 feet a few weeks ago, so not much going on there.

I'll bet that once it starts getting colder and more people are spending more time indoors the site will pick up a little more traffic.

If you wish for activity and drama about a hobby, read this:

https://karting.4cycle.com/showthread.p ... ir-is-fair

These are Briggs Racing engines with two wire seals on the crankcase because there was so much cheating or what some say liberal interpretation of the rules. The wire seals keep them from doing anything to the short block assembly.

Silhouette rules are great compared to other sports rules.

Just judging from that one thread, it feels like the karting world is a lot like the cycling world: nearly everyone is cheating and are angry that everyone else is getting away with it.

However, in Motorsports, it's not cheating until you get caught! Right?

Fans and sponsors are not going to wait around for a 12 hour technical inspection to go to victory lane with the real winner of a motorsports race. They have to see the car and driver go to the ceremony right then. Then on Monday morning deep in the archives of the sanctioning body, you can read about as many as four things that violated the equipment rules and the winning car owner was fined X amount of dollars.

Remember in 1984 when Ronald Reagan attended the Daytona race to watch Richard Petty win his 200th NASCAR race. His engine had way too much displacement as in a bigger engine than the rules allowed. He had the softer compound left side tires on all four wheels. A driver cannot drive with those advantages without feeling it. I think he was fined $10,000 on Monday morning if I remember correctly from 1984 but you can't find that info anywhere on the internet today.

What would it be like if the NRA required the rifle of a national match winner to be inspected immediately after the match instead of before the match started?
Imagine the chaos if that rifle did not pass inspection. It would be a worse ruckus than NASCAR.

I cannot argue with that.

Maybe I should ask how many people like to snowboard?

I did not enjoy my week of snowboarding. I'd rather ski.

I think acorneau is right. The email server isn't working again.

It's back on my list of things to do.

Thanks. --M
