Should I go and participate in the Colorado State Small Bore match or should I take that money and buy a case of ammo to practice more?

I'm not sure anyone but you can answer that. It's whichever has more value to you: participating in the match or practicing for a different match.

What is the point of practice unless it is to perform well in a match?
You must find a way to practice and shoot the match.
Practice without the goal of a match out there in the future loses its significance.
We only practice for the next match.

Buy the ammo.
stay in NM.
practice a little
spend time with the family
catch up on some of those unfinished project
Start a project you never had time for.
call an old friend out of the blue and say hey
practice a little more
check the scores of the CO. match and think "I would have crushed them" and smile

Shooting sports are supose to be fun, not cause dilemmas.

Just sayin

That was great!
I think I will go; I could not go last year due to personal issues. I can buy ammo over the winter. I think I will do the drive and go enjoy myself.

Thank you everyone.

Go!
Life is short and many times not fair.
Go to the match with the expectation of having a good time, seeing old friends and making new friends. Try to do your best and shoot your average. Anything below that is a chance to learn and improve. Anything above that is icing on the cake.
There is no guarantee that you will be able to make it next year. Enjoying the game we play is as much about the people around us as it is about how many chickens were left standing.
Go! Enjoy the event and you will not regret it.

Practicing at a match is much better than practicing for a match...

Go.

Go to the match AND practice. Use some spent brass and dry fire. Practice can be free.

So very true! live fire practice is more fun. I picked up enough ammo while I was at Nationals this year to hold me over of a while.

I better get with the program and reserve my room up there.

Nothing shows your weakneses like a good match.
Therefore, matches are great practice.

Shoot matches as practice! Try and make every shot -- either practice or match -- of the same importance. If every shot is of equal importance, then match pressure won't exist! (that's the theory, anyway, wish I could get it to work!). :D :D :D

I am convinced to go. Maybe I can convince a shooting buddy of mine to join me?
