541 buttplate

I've acquired a 541 and am learning how to shoot it. I don't yet have a vest. The buttplate is smooth & slick. Do I merely replace it with a thin rubber pad? Can I put skateboard tape on it? What have others done for a budget solution? It wants to slide on my shoulder. Thanks in advance.

Skateboard tape would be cheap and fine.

surfboard traction pad. skateboard tape will rub holes in your clothes or vest.

Buy a flip-flop at the dollar store and cut a new butplate out. Works great and is not expensive.

If you buy the pair. Make one into your buttplate and stand in the other onelegged and shoot. Just like a young lady we know.
