Leupold Vari-x 3 8.5-25x40 - good for silhouette?

Post by WADamo »

I’m just wondering if any one uses one of these for silhouette and is it suitable for the task and would you be able to share your insights, weight, glass tracking etc?

1inch tube with AO.
It’s a discontinued model.

Should I just stick with the 6.5 to 20?

Cheers :-bd

High-power or rimfire?
If rimfire. will it focus at 40m?
Stand up for what is right.... even if you stand alone.

Just saw this post.

I have had a couple of the 1 inch model. They will focus down to 40 yards, barely. Unfortunately they are very tender scope and will not stand up to the turret adjustments required in silhouette.

At one point they tried to put a second erector spring to beef up the tracking in this model, which just exacerbated the problem.

One of mine went in for repairs for the tracking issue, and when they didn’t have parts for it they replaced it with a new scope. Can’t argue with that really

The second I sold it while it was still working. :D
