Silhouette USA

Post by Hotrodrockets »

Note: This is an international Group.
I am addressing the issues that present themselves in the United States concerning Metallic Silhouette. I certainly welcome more input from shooters from other countries to help us out. I never turn away ideas.
-------------------
Long post so here is the short version:
Starting something NEW and I could use all of your help.
----------------------

Silhouette USA https://silhouetteusa.us
Given the current state of Silhouette obviously, something needs to be done.
It is not totally broken by any means. But it needs help. On a local level we have strong clubs and their match directors running great programs. We have an excellent group of shooters ready to participate.
Most importantly, we have Gun clubs that want to put on matches but don’t know how and a deep pool of gun owner culture who are looking for an opportunity to shoot competitively but have no idea how to start.
Things must be made easier for Match Directors and Competitors.
--------------
I have been thinking at length about this for a few years. In the last few years I have had many long conversations with a lot of great people about what needs to be done to improve our sport.

Please realize, I have taken everything mentioned into account and there are things I believe I can and can not do. Maybe better stated as some things I just do not want to do.
---------------
The solution I have come up with is a Competitor and Match director Co-Op. This is NOT a new Sanctioning body. I think we have enough of those.

Silhouette USA is a Player Co-Op like those used in other sports.
I realize many of you think I have some great insight into Pro sports because I have family members who are in that business. I assure you I have NONE of that experience. I am no expert in sports marketing. But, I do have folks I can ask good questions and get excellent data in return.

If you want to talk Rifles, Race cars, or Rockets I’m your guy. But this…..? No, I am starting from scratch here with just a bit of help.
-----------------------------------------------

The details: Silhouette USA outline.

First Question: This is a terrible time to roll out a new program. Lack of ammo and equipment. (USA)
Answer: I realize that. I am actually taking advantage by starting things slowly. I can use this time to get things running smoothly.

Advantages:
Build Our Sport
-Allow all Silhouette Shooting competition to benefit from League Organization.

-Marketing to non-Silhouette entities as a unified organization.
Having access to the data needed to market at your local level. All match directors and competitors will have access to the data.

Silhouette USA what we will do:
For the Shooters
Compete locally and Nationally.

- National Points System.

-Open Records and record keeping.
-Records kept and posted on-line for all to see. Quickly.
You can compare your results to everyone in the league.

-Anyone can look up any competitor and know their Status and Class.

-Prize pool (monthly) drawing March -Nov.
Each full match shot is one entry. You are eligible for prizes no matter how you shoot.
Yes even a guy like me could win something.

- Club /Team scoring. Form your own Club Teams. Compete against other club teams around the country. League play opportunities. Local teams are great marketing opportunities.

Silhouette USA Awards and recognition.
-Grand Slam Awards
-10 row Awards (1st time earned in each discipline).

-Central location to find matches in your area or anywhere in the US.

-Youth division: Specifically for developing new shooters (under 18). They are also eligible for awards and prize giveaways as they work their way up into full silhouette competitors.
-----------------

Empowering Match directors and match staff.
Let’s face it being a match Director ….is tough.

-Ease of access to statistics and records. Everything posted on line (no hidden information).
-Record keeping: Ease of access Simple on- line input.

- Competitor ID. Badges let you know who is who and what their status is instantly.

-Ease of data entry. Simple on line submission on ONE form for each match day.
Working on full electronic entry.

-Prizes and a points system to draw in more competitors to Silhouette.

- Silhouette USA keeps track of your 10-in a row and Grand Slam Awards. Leave that to us.

-----------------

Keep it cheap:
Question: Your price structure is too low.
Answer: Yes I know I have already been over that…… I am just trying to cover costs at this point.
Cost /Fees
Competitors: $5.00 annual.

Annual Club affiliates Match venues $20.00

Per Match Free $10.00 Paid by Match director.

Puts your match on the schedule
Gets your match scores entered.
We take care of awards and recognition programs.

And no I am not paying myself to do any of this. I am volunteering. Thus the low cost.

Wow, talk about timing. Earlier today I registered a domain name to put together a centralized list of matches across the different silhouette disciplines.

That is $10 per match from each match director? At Hassayampa we have 20 matches for this year.

More sites, more listing is all good. We need more exposure all around.

I may put a cap on total.

NRL22 charges $35.00 per match.

Edited / added:
**You club charges $15.00 per rifle. So that would be less than one entry fee.
There will be plenty of value to you as a Match director and to your competitors.
Certainly worth $10.00.
**
END edit:

The folks I am working with came up with the ideas about how much time it will take to enter scores and put a monetary value on that time.
I cut that in half and came to 10bucks.

Thinking about making the one time per year fee higher.
Or if you know any sponsors that would work also.

Chances are it all may be littel to no cost this year anyway while I get this rolling.

(Excuse the spelling please it's late. Im tired)
