30-30 what's best jump for LA Silhouette 125gr

After fairly extensive testing I settled on a load for my 30-30's
31.1-31.6 grains of W748, Fed210 primers, concentric cases .000- .003",
Sierra 125gr Hollow Point Flat Nose #2020

Using the Sierra 125gr Hollow Point Flat Nose #2020, my rifle shows 2.269" LNL (length of bulleted seated and just touching the rifling). The Overall length of the ammo is then 2.569", which is oversized for the minimum COAL 2.550

If I seat the bullet with .019 jump it meets the Max COAL (overall length) 2.550".
If I seat the bullet with .135 jump where case end meets the Cannelure (overall length) 2.415".

So a broad range of jump is possible. .019 to .135. I have not jump tested yet.

What's your jump and 100yard group sizes at 100 yards for the Sierra 125gr Hollow Point Flat Nose #2020?

Shoot what groups the best, and still cycle through action. Mine abt 2k into lands.

Jump variation test. Original tests jump was .135". New tests, four groups of five shots, .019 jump and .085" jump. Groups went from 2 1/4" (.135" jump) DOWN to 1.73" (1 3/4)!!
Groups were shot without adjusting scope. That is why some are off center. Wind was 6-12 gusting.

Off to the nationals in a few days. I may have time to work this trigger from 5lbs to 1-2lbs before I leave.

W748 has very high SD 68, Next step. Try same velocity, 2205fps, with 5744 powder which has 6-8 SD in velocity.

IHMSA53393 & Shootmore:

There is only (1) one NRA National Championship for Silhouette and this year it's in Ridgway, PA. There are forces that over the past 20 years have tried to confuse the issue mostly because of territoriality issues and problems with the NRA. Matches like the Southern Nationals, The TriFecta Nationals (Florida,Louisiana, Arkansas) and now the Western Nationals don't help with unifying our sport, but egos trump everything .

Ridgway is just so far away from Arizona. Both matches are recognized by the NRA. After investigating I discovered Ridgeway is a registered match where records can be set. Raton was an approved match for 2021. That will likely change to a registered match for 2022.

My son tied the Pistol cartridge record for Junior 44/60. If he had shot a 45 it it would not have counted as a record breaker. Regardless the match was run well and we sure had a great time. Good people and made new friends.

Best jump length for my 30-30 it is 2.485 COAL using a 125gr HPFN Sierra with 31.1gr W748. Proved out by scoring a 26/40 and winning 2nd place A division at the SW Nationals 2021, Raton. Max took third with a 25/60 :)
