Re: 44-40
Yes the 44WCF will work on 200 meter rams, most of the time.
I recently switched to 38-55 for LAR after using my 1873 Spaghetti-Chester in 44WCF for over 10 years. There were two loads that would reliably knock over the rams most of the time. I use the Accurate Molds 43-220cc in 30-1 alloy for everything. My favorite load is 37gr of Swiss 2F, DGL bullet lube and CCI#300 primers. For wet, misty days when the black powder smoke is a problem I used 25.5gr Reloder 7, White Label Lubes 50/50 NRA formula and CCI#350 primers.
These loads would ring rams on average of once every other match at Atglen and I never rang one at Ridgway.

In the days of old when men were bold, and a quarter was still worth a dime.
