Range storage and competition box suggestions?

Post by Seamus O'Grady »

Hey guys,

Any suggestions on a box for ammo, tools, accessories, etc. I currently use an old hat box I bought at a yard sale. It is time for an upgrade!

Thanks a million.

Here's the one I use. You've probably seen it at the range at matches. I'll probably have it with me at the match next week if you want to check it out. It's on sale right now, too.

You ask about a box! Most shooters carry their ammo in a MTM plastic box, and then the other stuff is carried in a bag like Jason has posted. I have a Dillon Range Bag that I won in a door prize, it is great but not worth the 100.00 that Dillion wants for them. Then there is the Midway one, and Uncle Mike's makes one for the same price and I picked up a smaller one at Sportsman's Warehouse made by Browning for about 25.00, if I remember right.

Plano 737 fishing box. You can get a bigger box to fit in the right hand side for your ammo.

HP ammo in an MTM box, SB ammo in a Champ's Choice plastic 22 ammo carrier, everything else in a Camelbak HAWG backpack (except the scope and tripod, and of course, rifle).

I've been eyeballing tool boxes though..........I have an Allen range bag, but usually use it for when I take handguns to the range.
Usually shooting scores right in class, too bad its the class below my classification!

Go down to Wally World and go to the tool section, get one of the wheeled tool boxes for about 28 bucks. Lots of room for everything you take to the range and you can roll it instead of carrying it. Works good for me.
