Practicing for Rimfire and High Power

Post by 1armoured »

If you can't get out, use a recoiling spring gun at close range.
Preferrably one with a good trigger.

Have a look at the Air Rifle posts.

I've found the ideal tools for me.
Air Arms springers, TX200 and Pro Sport.
Not cheap, but worth every cent.

cheers,
and have a nice day, y'all .
Ours is pretty good down here in paradise at the moment,
we've had mid 30's C this week (getting up near 100F)
(Record temperatures around Christchurch and Canterbury in the 100'sF, Mary)

Christchurch in the 30's?? Wow, they do not know what to do with that kind of heat. The shearing must be miserable in that heat though a bit late for much of that now.
BTW working in the science field, have to think in one or the other for measurement, I refuse to try to convert, just set the mind to operate in either metric or US mode, depending on the customer I'm dealing with.

When I cant get out I dry fire off the porch. I have targets set up at 40, 60, and 77yds. I could set another at 100 but that would be right at the edge of the road and would make the cars drivers nervous. #57

#57, you must have really attentive drivers if they can see and pay attention to someone on porch 100 yards off the road. Send them to Florida, we could use some alert drivers for a change!

Drivers here could find a dime in the weeds along the freeway but wouldnt notice a ten car pileup in front of them! unless it involved a beer truck! I was more worried about them seeing the back side of the ram swinger, or seeing it and steeling it. #57

#57,
The theft part of the ram I can understand but obviously if you are going to only pay attention to a pile up that involves a beer truck then we need to re-educate the drivers to watch for other trucks with things of value on them. But it still sounds better than the fine drivers that come to Florida.

The driving slow I can deal with, either lane, it is the turns...from the left hand lane across two lanes of traffic to the right(no turn signal of course), onto a major roadway with a car less than 100 feet from the intersection, going the speed limit, etc. But I can imagine that no one in CA understands the moving north and driving slow bumper sticker.
BTW, have hada chance to shoot a match yet?

Has anyone tried a RICA trainer? It attaches to any of your guns and then you dryfire your gun at an electronic target. The info appears on your computer screen.

Never used any, but seen one similar in action.

There are a few different types about.

Here's one;

http://www.intershoot.co.uk/acatalog/Training_Aids.html

http://www.scatt.com/scatt_usb.htm

Not cheap, though !

Good for analysis of the hold, but shooting projectiles with recoil has it's place as well.

cheers,
Sean

#57, you'll get a chance to burn some ammo soon... and the aturn signal thing....it's what goes really fast when you run through water and don't dry the bulbs out later. ie doesn't work on one end or the other until Wally World gets the right size in stock and you happen to remember it,then actually install it.
