SHOOTING SPORTS, USA MAGAZINE

There is good news and bad news concerning this publication. The good news is that you will now be able to subscribe to this magazine for free. The bad news is that the print version will be discontinued after the December 2009 edition. The magazine went into a digital format in March of this year and will be available by subscription at no charge, the link to sign up for your free subscription is: www.nrapublications.org/ssusa/. The new digital magazine will still look like the existing magazine and the pages flip as you right click on the corner of the page. The content will remain the same and everything that you are used to seeing including the “Coming Events” section will still be included.

I have high hopes that we can take the digital magazine to 100,000 or more subscribers and have an even more useful communication resource for the competitive shooting community. We will be looking for your feedback as this new program develops.

CAMP PERRY UPDATES:
CAMP PERRY ENTRY: My goal is to have the 2009 Camp Perry Entry page and Program up on line and active by April 1, 2009. We will be mailing copies of the print version of the program to those people that entered by mail last year and those that have requested a print copy for this year. A link to the Camp Perry Entry page and the Program page will be sent to those that entered on the internet last year. Please review the 2009 program prior to filling out your entries. NRA National Championship entries web link after April 1, 2009 is http://www.nmentry.com.

SIGNALING SYSTEM FOR SCORING HIGH POWER TARGETS: There are two signaling systems illustrated in the NRA High Power Rule Book. The High Power Rifle Committee suggested that the alternative scoring system illustrated in the rulebook be used at Camp Perry. It is the preferred disking system that NRA would like to see utilized at the National Championships but this will not take place in 2009. The alternative system will not be implemented at Camp Perry until we are comfortable that NRA competitors are familiar with the new signaling system. All High Power Rifle Competitors will be given more information in their competitor packets on the alternative signaling system and we would request that it be implemented at local competitions to give competitors experience with the new disk placement.

WHISTLER BOY SMALLBORE MATCH: There will be no change in the Whistler Boy Smallbore Match at Camp Perry. NRA will run the match during the NRA Smallbore Championship on July 28, 2009. NRA will supply ammunition for this match. Team fee will be reduced to $30.00.

NRA WHISTLER BOY JUNIOR HIGH POWER SERVICE RIFLE TEAM MATCH will be moved into the NRA High Power Championship and be held on Sunday, August 9, 2009. The rules for this match have not changed and will remain the same as in past years. The only change to this match is a reduced team fee to $30.00 and ammunition will be supplied to competitors for this match, if ammunition is available. Junior teams that enter the High Power Rifle Whistler Boy Match will also be eligible to participate in the NRA Team Matches the following day at no charge, yes for free.
