Measuring rim thickness

A number of years ago when I was shooting team challenge, I bought a tool to measure rim thickness. It seems like now that I have started shooting again, people are into weighing their rounds.

Is weight the new standard for trying to get the most consistent rimfire ammo? What is the current thought on measuring rim thickness vs weighing cartridges?

Thanks,

Crabo

Combo of both... but lots of time for this sport, not like benchrest and the small x ring. A 9 here is still a hit :D

When you measure rim thickness, measure it at 90, 180, and 270. Then tell me what it tells you.

I think measuring rim thickness helps bad ammo but doesn't do anything for the good stuff.

i like to weigh the ammo. as today's better stuff is generally better manufactured, the rim thickness isn't as varied as once before. although it doesn't hurt to check the thickness as a variance would cause a difference in OAL.

but i believe more emphasis on weight.
