Win 94 "floppy" trigger

I've got a buddy who just asked me about a Winchester 94 top eject 30-30 he has. He says the trigger kind of "flops" around, front to back. It's not like creep or take-up, he says it seems like there is a spring missing or something, but he has not yet taken the rifle apart to investigate.

The rifle still functions and fires normally, but he says that if he points the rifle at the ground, the trigger will flop forward, and if he points it at the sky, it flops rearward. Not exactly a safe condition - so he wants to get this figured out and fixed.

I figured with the wealth of knowledge here about this type of rifle, that someone might have a suggestion, or say "oh yeah, I've seen that before, and here's how to fix it...

I'm going to do a search for a parts diagram/exploded view of the rifle and hopefully that will lead to some answers.

maybe your "94's" need some Viagra or Cialis to solve that "floppy" trigger.

I don't have a Winchester 94, but I do have so many Marlins that I would have to sit down and think out how many. All of the centerfire Marlins come from the factory with a floppy trigger just as you describe, whether 336 or 1894. If Marlin thought it was a safety issue their lawyers would make them fix it. To the contrary, I sent back an 1894 CL that had a non-floppy happy trigger installed and it came back with the factory floppy trigger.
